Winning contests

One of my hobbies over the past few years, which I must admit I have been pretty inconsistent with, has been entering contests online.  At one point I was fairly dedicated to it and it paid off more than once.

In my best year I had won tickets to shows and musicals, prize packs with t-shirts and things, and some luggage worth over $3000. But best of all was an all inclusive trip to a 5 star resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It was a trip for 2 and included everything except the taxes. We also paid for an extra ticket so that we could bring along our then 6 year old daughter.

It was an experience that we never would have been able to afford on our own at the time so it was a very welcomed and enjoyable experience

Finding Time

Some people would think that winning these amazing experiences would be motivation to keep it up and try to win bigger and better things, but for reasons unknown, I almost stopped contests completely.

There would be times when I would get back into it for a day or two and enter 50+ contests at a time, but then I would forget about it again for months.

Since I’ve started this blogging  journey, I’ve had to be more vigilant at scheduling my time and making my time online useful instead of just endlessly scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram, looking at projects that I will never get around to doing if I just keep scrolling.

I’m still learning time management.

Let’s Do This

More often than not I find myself making lists of blog ideas at 1:00am, which seems to be the time when my brain is most active. Because lord knows it doesn’t know how to relax and actually go to sleep.

So I thought that while I’m up so late (or early, depending on your point of view), I might as well turn my contesting into a blog post. I’m hoping to make this a weekly addition to the blog where I will share links to the many different contests that I find so that you can enter as well.

It also leads into another possible post about time blocking and time management but we’ll get into that one at a later time.

My goal is to list at least 5-10 new contests each week with all the details necessary. And please note, that since I live in Canada, the contests that I share here will be open to Canadian residents. I probably won’t be listing any that are US only, as those are not ones that I look for.

As for now, I’m working off a list that I’ve had for quite a while and the expiry dates are coming soon so I (and you) will have to get moving on getting those entries in.
